I lost a close friend from high school to breast cancer and she made me promise to help others like her. About a month after she died I received a phone call from the women who started the Indiana Y-Me not-for-profit (now known as Pink Ribbon)--www.pinkribbonconnection.org
I have served on the Medical Advisory Council for Pink Ribbon for years and have even been a model in their annual style show. Most recently I have helped in the training of their volunteers who run their "hot line" which pairs a breast cancer survivor with a person newly diagnosed with breast cancer.
When a group of women brought Casting for Recovery to Indiana, I was asked to be their psychosocial facilitator. We take breast cancer survivors fly fishing. We have 2 weekend retreats a year, and always have a reunion weekend. I am providing the links below to a video of the fly fishing weekend in Indiana created by Jeff Patrick. http://vimeo.com/channels/cfrindiana Casting For Recovery-Indiana.
